Moose Hunts
An average Moose in our Pink Mountain Northern area would score in the 170-190 class with some reaching over the 195 Boone & Crocket marker and have exceptionally long paddles shooting upwards.
On our moose hunts we would not even look at taking a moose unless it were 50’’ and 170 plus.
We feel along with some other outfitters this is one of the best Moose hunting areas (size and numbers of Moose) in B.C. period.
The Moose hunting is excellent in mid August to early September, as a spot and stock hunt when the bulls are high in the alpine basin and easy to spot, the best rut hunting/calling is in mid-late September and early October when the bulls are moving allot searching for available cows. Moose can make a great combination hunt with Stone Sheep, Elk, Caribou or Interior Mountain Grizzly.
The Pink Mountain Northern area has in the past produced 80-100 bulls per year for previous
outfitters and has a 95% success rate. We have 2200 sq miles that we can hunt giving the best possibility of a trophy animal.
We are very excited for this upcoming 2011 season as we know the Moose hunts
will be extremely successful and some very large bulls will be taken. The
bggest ones are still out there!
Shiras Moose
In our territory we contain a large population of Shiras Moose. If you have
never hunted Moose before you are in for a thrilling hunt! A Moose can be as
quiet as a mouse and will stand in one spot for a long time, but remember a
Moose is a creature of flight. Moose are wary of everything around them and
the slightest noise will send them crashing into the woods or over the next
mountain top, they have a great sense of hearing and any noise you create will
cause them to become focused upon the direction of where it came from, compound
that with a sense of smell that is also acute and now you have an animal that
will put any big game hunter to the test. That is why a successful hunt begins
with MVP Outfitters, and their gifted guides. The difference between knowing
the path and having walked the path is the difference between a successful
harvest, and a missed opportunity. These rifle hunts start Oct 25 and run through
to Nov 5th, and for those archery hunters the season starts Sept 1 to Nov 5th.
World class Moose hunting opportunities are available, so if you have ever
dreamed of hunting one of these extraordinary animals, then this hunt is for
you.
Unfortunately we have limited number of permits available, so we encourage
you to book early. This hunt can also be accompanied by white-tailed, or mule
deer.
