Bear Hunts

BearHuntsGrizzly bear season starts in April and runs through to June 15th, they are ten day hunt. A mature Interior Mountain Grizzly boar will range 7’ to 8' 1/2" in length and will have a scull between 21 and 23 inches with the odd one that will reach the magic marker of 24 inches Boone and Crockett. These bears we see vary in color and size. In 2006 we took a Grizzly that squared 8'3" and the skull measured 24 2/8th, in 2007 we took a Grizzly that squared 8'6" and the skull scored 24 1/2.

Down South we hunt these bears for the most part in the slide areas where they come to feed on the first green shoots of the year. Up North we will hunt them in the spring the same way, in the fall a spot and stock hunt is done, glassing from high ridges over lots of open country. This area has lots of Grizzly Bears so finding a true trophy class animal is expected. If you want an intense exciting challenge, we suggest you book early as we are limited to the number of tags by the goverment on our permits for these truly brilliant animals. Check with us for cancellation hunts as they do come up! This makes a great hunt as a combination with Moose, Elk, Caribou or all three.

Our black bears are hunted usually in our Southern area with our main species in the fall and again in the spring. Spring archery hunts are either spot and stalk or with hounds, and run for seven days.

Due to the abundance of black bears you have a good opportunity to harvest two bears in the spring.

This hunt will be a very high success hunt!
